Bio

Laura Blight is a photographer, visual artist and educator from Essex, living and working in Cornwall.

Traces left by human activity are recurring themes throughout Laura's work, exploring the tension between the familiar and unknown in domestic environments. Laura adopts a curious and intuitive approach to image making where presence, or rather absence is evidenced.

In August 2022 Laura co-designed and facilitated a ReWilding Creativity Residency with artist/educator Jessie Edwards-Thomas  in Glastonbury for creative practitioners. The residency included a series of process-led photographic workshops utilising organic materials and sustainable processes, providing a creative and supportive environment in which artists can immerse themselves.

During Feb-March 2022, Laura was a creative lead for Springboard Studios at Falmouth University. An institution-wide wellbeing and employability research programme funded by the ESF. Laura ran a series of photographic led workshops focusing on playful, mindful and tactile activities to encourage students to reconnect with themselves and creativity in a non-assessed, process led way.

Laura is a full-time Lecturer at Falmouth University on the BA Commercial Photography course bringing 10 years of industry experience working in stills production as a producer.
